Why Build a Forecast Model?

By Shane Bender

When working with businesses, one of the first things I do is build a working forecast model. Many times I do this even before they sign a contract because I can more quickly see issues and how I can help them increase profits, save time, and increase impact. I have come up with at least 10 reasons why any organization should have a working forecast model that is review regularly.

10 Reasons Your Organization Needs a Forecast Model

1. Make quicker and more informed decisions

2. Helps you save money

3. Planning your revenue brings more revenue

4. Consistency makes running a business (or nonprofit) easier

5. A better understanding of cash flow

6. More peace and less chaos

7. Builds team consensus and understanding

8. More awareness of looming issues

9. Helps prioritize challenges

10. Increases flexibility and decreases overreaction
